Now, while this is certainly a great router and it claims to be a gaming router, keep in mind that it’s not a dual band router, but at this price it’s still a great piece of hardware and the large majority of reviewers go to bat to make that clear.
Let’s Start With The Negative Reviews We Could Find
While there were very few negative comments to chose from we did manage to find a few. One reviewer said the product just didn’t work out of the box, but said that D-Link technical support was very helpful. You really have to take negative reviews with a grain of salt when a solid brand like D-Link releases a gaming router for less than $100 though.
We’d also like to note that the negative reviews are tough to nail down to a consistently re-occurring problem, but more like one-off incidents. Another negative review cited that as a speedy router the DGL-4100 is ok, but he had trouble creating a firewall to control his kids’ access.
A customer who once owned the DI-604 D-Link router said that the 4100 seemed a bit slower and took longer to connect to establish an initial connection. He also stated that the web gui was a lot more snazzy than the 604′s. Finally, a disappointed customer said the unit arrived with a faulty power chord, but said he was able to use the unit with a power cable from another router.
